Sengoku Basara
Sengoku Basara is a series of video games released by Capcom about feuding warlords in Japan. If you think the artwork or style of these games look familiar, you're not entirely off base. The games take place in the same time period of Japanese history as the Samurai Warriors games although those games are from Koei and Sengoku Basara is from Capcom.
An anime adaptation has recently started airing in Japan. I have seen the first episode and found it a great deal of fun. The show, produced by Production I.G., doesn't take itself seriously and is filled with some hilarious, almost homoerotic subtext amongst the action. After all, you don't continuously scream someone's name if you don't at least care for them, right?
This post features artwork from the games and the anime.

Revisiting Persona Trinity Soul
It's time for one more (final) go-round with the brothers of Persona Trinity Soul. Most of these pics come from the artbook for the series scanned by Kei at Dokuganryu.
Artist Spotlight: Marco Checchetto
Today's Artist Spotlight was initially not going to be an Artist Spotlight post. I was going to do a post featuring artwork from the comic series Squadron Supreme.
The latest volume of that series is where I first saw artwork by Marco Checchetto. As I was doing the Squadron Supreme post, I found some other artwork that I liked and decided to turn it into an Artist Spotlight instead.
Checchetto hails from Italy and has been doing professional artwork since 2002. In addition to Squadron Supreme, he has other projects including an Italian version of Spider-Man.
You can see more of his art at V.O.C. Studio.

Mouryou no Hako
Mouryou no Hako is a Japanese novel written by Natsuhiko Kyougoku about a detective investigating the grisly murders of schoolgirls. In 2008, it was turned into an anime series by famed studio Madhouse.
What's interesting about this is that the character designs for the anime were done by CLAMP. As you'll see in the pics below, this is quite a departure in look from Code Geass, another anime with CLAMP designs.
Let it be said that those ladies are quite versatile.

Wolverine in Black and White
Rampaging Wolverine is yet another Marvel comic with Wolverine in it but this one has a couple of twists. It's an anthology special and it's done completely in black-and-white. The highlight for me is a story featuring artwork by Paco Diaz Luque. Logan looks quite hot in this story. It also should be noted that this is one of the few times I've ever seen Wolverine sans chest hair.

Zetman
Created by Masakazu Katsura, Zetman is probably what you would get if a Japanese creator decided to make an original superhero manga. Or something like that.
I read a little bit of this manga a long time ago but I don't really remember the story. I do know that the creator is a huge fan of Batman and this manga is at least influenced by the caped crusader. I wish the Wikipedia page was a little more helpful. Regardless, the artwork for this series is quite nice.
