Japan's Studio 4°C (Animatrix, Batman: Gotham Knight), former Disney animator, Barry Cook (Disney's Mulan) and Campus Crusade for Christ produced a 9-minute short based on the 1979 live-action film of Jesus Christ's life in the short called, My Last Day.
My Last Day depicts the biblical story of the crucifixion of Jesus through the perspective of a thief who was also crucified. In my opinion, the release of this short is timely since this week is the last week of the Lenten Season which celebrates Christ's sacrifice to save our lives from our sins.
Barry Cook, wrote the short's screenplay for CCC's Jesus Film Project ministry. The current online version is in English, and the producers plan to translate the short into other languages.
This isn't the first time that a Japanese studio was involved in this kind of project, Tatsunoko Productions (Jinzou Ningen Casshern, Yatterman, Science Ninja Team Gatchaman) produced The Flying House and Superbook and manga/anime pioneer Osamu Tezuka worked with the Vatican on the In The Beginning - The Bible Stories anime series just before he passed away.

As a Catholic, I love how they did the anime. It was not childish and they put a lot of heart in it. I mean, it took them 7 years to do this project and hopefully, this would not be the last of it. I want to see how they will do Paul's journey or Moses' life story!
