Star Driver: Kagayaki no Takuto 24-25 - FINAL

It is quite rare that I talk about this anime but since this is the finale and it is really interesting, I decided to talk about it. To recap what is happening for the past few weeks, Sugata is Samekh's Driver and Kiraboshi wants him until finally, he was convinced to join after he learned that Keito is a member, and so, he steps in as Kiraboshi's Emperor. The final festival now begins.

The show's 24th episode was basically a regular episode of the show which involves school drama. And so, I will not talk much about it asides that Keito finally showed her true feelings for Sugata and that Takuto and Wako learned that Sugata and Keito are Crux members.

The actual fun begins on the show's last episode. If there is one thing that is worth praising on the final episode is that the use of darker lines and more rough artwork which adds up to the intensity of the mecha fights. What adds more to the epicness of the last episode is the background music that is playing during the fights! Namely, Monochrome (when will they release the single?), Komorebi no Contact and Cross Over. If there is one thing that ruined the epicness of the final fight scene is the overuse concept of miracles that happened during the final battle. But hey, at least they provided Takuto some back-up while being beaten up by Sympathy!

As for Head in this episode, I was not that surprised on what he did since if you watched his focus episode, it clearly shows that there are somethings in the past that he wants to change. In short, the fact that he wants to be a Time Lord time traveler by using Samekh is no surprise.

His fight with his son, Takuto is probably one of the crowning moments of this series. It was intense and something that they has a proper build up in the series, although the build up for this fight was subtle, it was significant.

If there is one Crux member asides from Keito that stood up in the past two episodes, probably Kanako. Asides that she actually has a plan once the Final Festival happens, she is the first who stepped up against Head after we learned his plan. Seriously, my problem with most Crux members is that they are forgettable, only a few actually left a lasting impact in the series and Kanako is one of those members.

The last few moments of the series actually makes proper sense in the conclusion of the series. I mean, why would Sugata join what can this show consider the "bad guys" if he doesn't have a valid reason to join them. If there is one thing that I learned about the "good guys" who are joining the Crux is that they had a second agenda. Take Marino aka Manticore for instance, she joined the Crux to protect her sister who was a Maiden. In Sugata's case, all I can say is, it is similar to Lelouch's sacrifice except Takuto didn't act like Suzaku in this one!

The only thing disappointing in the last two episodes is that the series didn't have a proper closure. I mean, did Sugata and Takuto returned to Earth after what Takuto did? Did Takuto forgive his father after him acting like an ass most of the time and most importantly, who is the guy that Wako chose? Takuto or Sugata? And what is more important than that, where do the Cybodies came from?!

Overall, the last two episodes of the series is quite one heck of a ride. It first started slow and slowly the tension rises up and the fact that the 24th episode ended up with a cliffhanger made the last episode strong end for the series. Because of the show's ending, I demand an OVA sequel!
