The 28th volume of Yoshihiro Togashi's Hunter x Hunter manga sold 571,502 copies in its first official week of sales to top Oricon's comic sales chart for the July 4-10 week. The manga is returning to Weekly Shonen Jump magazine next month after Togashi's latest hiatus of about a year.
The 28th volume already sold 61,580 before it officially went on sale on July 4, so it now has a total of 633,082 copies sold. The 29th volume is slated for August 4.
Togashi was known for earlier manga such as Yu Yu Hakusho and Level E before he launched Hunter X Hunter in 1998. Since then, he has taken a number of breaks for "creative reasons," only to return with renewed readership numbers.
