Soul Calibur V

Soul Calibur V isn't set to be released until next year but Namco Bandai has already started releasing some art and character info.

Today's post is a chance to play a game of illustration vs. render.  I'm pairing each character's artwork alongside its CG render.  Take a look at the pics and give your opinion.  Which one do you think is hotter?

CosTube '09 Thoughts

For weeks, I've been waiting for the five final entries of TV5's CosTube Cosplay contest. To those who are wondering the videos that qualified for the finals (in which the viewers will decide via text votes), here's the link. Courtesy of cosplay.ph

Among the entries, there are two vids in my own opinion are the best in the bunch. Namely, Rider Wars Trailer and Mio X Raphael. First, Rider Wars Trailer. To those who haven't watch the video, there it is:

First thing that I say about the video is, the effects are awesome and beat the crap out of the toku failure named, "Zaido: Pulis Pangkalawakan". What makes the video awesome is that it has a decent story to add up the special effects. The plot of the video is, the end of Decade. Since Decade is dead, and the worlds are now one, Narutaki calls all Riders to have a battle royale to see who will be the new leader of the new world... Kinda sound like a fan fiction in my own opinion!

Next, Mio X Raphael. Again, to those who haven't watched the vid, here it is:

First comment about the video, boy, drama. After a few minutes, the story is getting interesting! Unlike most entries in CosTube '09, the video has no special effects, no fancy gimmick. It is simply a story about Mio breaking up with Raphael. That simple. What makes this entry a hit it is because it has a different feel from the other fantasy themed entries of this year's CosTube. Aside that most of the characters appearing came from games, what adds up the fun factor in the film is what happened earlier. LOL! Just watch the vid why.

Video Game Week Day Six: Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny

The second of today's mini-posts features artwork from the latest game in the Soul Calibur series.

Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny is a brand-new game for the PSP and features many of the beloved characters from the series.  In keeping with the tradition of guest characters, this game features Kratos from the God of War series as a playable character.

This game is set to be released in late September/early October.

 

 

Secret Apprentice

I've found some more artwork and screenshots featuring Secret Apprentice, who I first featured in a recent Soul Calibur IV post.  The piece of artwork above is from Star Wars:  The Force Unleashed, which is the game that the character originates from.  The rest of the pics are from Soul Calibur IV.  Two of the pics appeared in the previous post with this character but the versions here are larger.

Soul Calibur IV CG Beauty

I know I just posted some Soul Calibur IV stuff  but the artwork I found recently warranted its own post.

I found some wonderful high-resolution renders of Siegfried and Mitsurugi and they are quite beautiful.  As a result, I've decided to not only post my usual resized pics for this post but also give some links to download the full-sized versions.  You'll find those at the end of this post.

Revisiting The Stage Of History

With the release of Soul Calibur IV, I felt it was time to post some more artwork from the game. 

I have to admit that one of the new characters, Secret Apprentice, really appeals to me.  I guess it's probably because I find guys like him attractive in real life.

[Update:  The Secret Apprentice character is originally from the game Star Wars:  The Force Unleashed.  He'll be the subject of another post in the future.]

Also, check out a recent post from Just Beautiful Men about SC IV's character creation system.  I may just need to save up for an X360 or a PS3.

Welcome To The Stage Of History

I think there is an unspoken rule that the characters in fighting games, whether male or female, have to be hot. Sure, every fighting game has an ugly character or two, but I have yet to find a fighting game where there weren't multiple hot guys (okay, DOA has very few guys, but even most of those guys tend to actually be attractive).

So, with that, I bring you some artwork of the guys from the Soul Calibur games. These games inspired some gorgeous fan art, which will probably be fodder for another post.
