Connor prior before his initiation as a Sentai fan.
For the longest time since I watched Power Rangers Dino Thunder, I was wondering what is the name of the episode where the Dino Thunder team watched their Super Sentai counterparts… until today; the name of the ep was Lost and Found in Translation.
And so, I decided to get some screenshots and comment on the episode.
Kiddies, this is the episode where you have your first look on a traditional Japanese form of entertainement since 1975 and that is, Super Sentai!
Hey, they are not teenagers, they have a cool base and who the hell is that girl besides the Yellow one?
Dino Thunder, Power Up... with Japanese people screaming it!
"ZOMG! This show is friggin' awesome!" - Connor. And so folks, he is the first Red Ranger to become a Sentai fan.
And so folks, a new set of kids will get their daily does of Sentai.
Now let's get down to business. This episode is about Ethan watching Haley's TV which can now cover up to over 900 channels around the world. Connor enters, and Ethan saw the opening sequence of Abaranger in which according to the information sheet, is a Power Rangers show made by the Japanese. Connor was at first skeptical about this, "Japanese Power Rangers" that he tends to over react everytime he spots an inaccuracy on the show.
Wait a second, over reaction on inaccuracies? Sounds familiar... very familiar.
At the end of the episode, Connor becomes a Sentai fan, writes a report that the American and Japanese Cultures are not seemed to be different after all.
This episode is like a nod on a typical Sentai fan who first watched Power Rangers. But this time, the tables are turned, we have Power Ranger fan to be exact, a POWER RANGER who watched an episode of Sentai. As Connor overreacts, it reminded me of Sentai fans who says, "Hey, how the hell Megaranger was in outerspace?" or "Why Barza was trapped in a giant glass tube and now a frikin' giant floating head?" or "Why the Yellow Ranger here is a girl?" You get the point.
Also Ethan and Kira kinda reminded me of the people who influenced someone to watch Sentai... well, in a subtle way.
I think what the writers are trying to tell us is that, even if the suits are the same and their stories are different, they will still save the world in whatever means necessary whether it will be cheesy way or the traditional way.
In short, I love this episode, asides that I was able to watch Sentai again (Note: When this episode aired here in the Philippines, Sentai was MIA for more than 5 years. According to sources for Sentai's MIA it is the fault of a certain mouse.), it made me realize a lot of things mentioned above.
