And with some generic assassin in the form of Kikyo in action! Omega Red continues to ruin Logan’s life in Japan as he continues to run amok around Tokyo. Along with it, he takes on Wolverine in this episode, not once, but twice! Anyways, here’s the episode review.
Their first round in this episode was intense. Wolverine was quite handicapped with his battle with Omega Red, which is fun to see considering that, most people see Logan as that indestructible Canadian mutant. How did he able to beat Omega Red in their first round? Of course, what most superheroes in Japan do, kick their enemy and that is what Logan did for him to escape and handicap and of course, with a little help from Yukio. Seriously, seeing Logan ramming Omega Red’s arm on the circular blade stuck in the wall was quite a fun sight!
But before they had their second round, Logan decides to continue his search for Mariko and he is too late, they left for Madripoor but Logan is prepared in case that happened, and so, he calls for his old connections. You know what I mean, that X alone in his communicator is enough for old fans to know that he will ask back up from the X-Men!
As for his battle with Jigen, I mean, Kikyo, like his first encounter with this guy, the fight still feels a bit of generic and to make him not that generic, they decided to give him some of Logan’s traits such as adamantium in his body and the healing factor! They are sure desperate in making Kikyo a memorable character.
Back to Red, their second round is not that good. See Logan run on his tentacle; remove his carbodium synthesizer, end of battle. However, even their second round is this bland, the scene after it isn’t because finally, the back up coming from the X-Men has arrived… with Cyclops piloting the X-Wing!
Overall, this is one heck of the episode even if the second round with Omega Red in this episode is pretty bland because that short Cyclops cameo made it quite good. As for the animation in this episode, I noticed many bad frames, which is a bit forgivable considering that most scenes are not that intense compared to the scenes found in the previous episode.
Even if the name of this episode is called, Asano, Logan’s old friend never had much focus in this episode. The only mention about this guy when his autopsy was revealed at the middle of the episode in which it is finally proven that Logan is innocent and the guy who killed Asano is still at large, and it is not that generic assassin!
