Since the June 13 live event for the new Gundam series is over, I guess its time to talk about it. Prior to the live event, the new series was first leaked four days before the said event, and it was revealed on those scans that the new series is called, Mobile Suit Gundam AGE.
The new series will have three generations of "father, child, and descendant" as the lead characters. The main characters pilot the Gundam unit to fight against an unknown attacking enemy (UE) and save Earth in a "One Hundred Year War" — an apparent homage to the One Year War of the first Gundam series.
The Gundam AGE-1 mobile suit is equipped with the AGE System, or a self-adapting computer, will be the main unit this season developed by Furitto Asuno. Other main characters include Asemu Asuno, Furitto's child and Kio Asuno, Furitto's descendant who inherits the Gundam. The Gundam AGE-1 can be augmented as the Gundam AGE-1 Titus for more power, or as the Gundam AGE-1 Sparrow for more speed.
Other characters include Emily, Furitto's friend since he was 7; Guruudekku, a Commander in the Earth Federation Forces and the captain of the battleship Diva; and, Mireesu, a Lieutenant (junior grade) in the Federation Forces aboard the Diva.
Game developer Level 5 (Inazuma Eleven, Cardboard War Chronicle), will take in charge in making the will be in-charge of the game. Mobile Suit Gundam AGE RPG will be released in Japan under Bandai Namco Games. Price and release dare is TBA.
In addition, Keroro Gunsou/Sgt. Frog, director Susumu Yamaguchi will be directing Gundam AGE. Yamaguchi have already became a part of the Gundam franchise as a key animator on Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory, Mobile Suit Gundam F91, Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team, and the Mobile Suit Gundam Seed titles.
Sunrise also confirmed that Akihiro Hino, president of the game studio Level 5 (Inazuma Eleven, Danbōru Senki), is supervising the story. Michinori Chiba is adapting Takuzō Nagano's original character designs for animation. Kanetake Ebikawa, Junya Ishigaki, and Kenji Teraoka are all contributing to the mechanical designs.
After the official announcement of Gundam AGE, they also announced that there will be another Gundam project will be revealed this June 25th! The announcement will be available via Gundam.info and other sources.
Mobile Suit Gundam AGE will premiere on Japan's MBS and TBS stations this October.
