Son Goku, Arale and Gundam Cheers Up Japan

Last time, I have posted artworks created by Inoue Takehiko and Noizi Ito in which they use it to show their support to the victims of the March 11 earthquake.

Asides from that, Akira Toriyama, best known for his works Dragon Ball and Dr. Slump and Okawara Kunio who makes mecha designs for the Gundam franchise posted art to cheer up Japan in this disaster!

Toriyama drew two of his famous characters Son Goku of Dragon Ball and Arale-chan of Dr. Slump, riding the Kinto'un Cloud (Flying Nimbus in some dubs), shouting the word "Ganbare!!", which translates roughly to "Do your best!!"

This art was posted on the official Shonen Jump website along with it are messages coming from the editors for the victims and families. He then wrote a message for earthquake victims next to the art: "To everyone affected in the disaster, it is really very difficult, but please don’t give up and do your best!"

Okawara Kunio tweeted this image of the classic RX78-2 Gundam (for the uninitiated, this is the original Gundam back in the franchise's main universe, the Universal Century) holding a Japanese flag with the words, "Ganbare Nippon!" which is translated as, "Do your best, Japan!" written underneath.

Okawa also included the comment, "Today, I am wishing well to the victims of the earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear explosions. Thank you to the people who are involved with the relief, and the people in the Japan Self-Defense Corps. Do your best, Japan. Do your best, Japan."

Seeing more of the original artist drawing artworks of the their famous characters to encourage Japan is a really touching sight to see. Hopefully, we will see more of it in the coming days.
