Training begins in cram school, as test for becoming Exwires will happen soon, thus Rin is quite clueless about it, which includes the job-classes of each Meister, a state in which you are officially recognized as an exorcist. Also, Shiemi wants to look for friends, even if we see her hanging around with the Okumura brothers and she set her eyes on Izumo, the chick with those creepy eyebrows.
If there is one thing that I liked about these two episodes is that the series starting to deviate from the usual exorcist battle anime in which the relationship with God is not that significant asides that their weapons were blessed by God. In AoEx’s case, they have a job class called, Aria in which a person recites scriptures from the Bible or any holy book to defeat the demon. Other job classes include guys who wield weapons that are stereotyped in films that involves exorcist or films that involves guys who fight demons.
The two episode focuses on two job classes, the Aria and the Tamer, most especially the Tamer job class. As for the other three job classes, we already saw them in action thanks to what Rin and Yukio is doing. For starters, the Aria job class is quite frankly, the hardest job class in the series since it deals with memorizing stuff from holy scriptures. Seeing it in battle was quite a weird sight to see since reciting the Gospel of John to defeat the demon is quite a hard task especially if the demon will attack you if you are defenseless.
As for the Tamer job class, in my opinion, the most dangerous job class to enter due to the fact that you need self confidence and you must be stronger than the demons that you summon or else it would backfire. In Izumo’s case, when she lack the self confidence to fight the demon, her two fox spirits wants to attack her since they saw her lack of self confidence. As for Shiemi’s case, she was able to summon a cute green man who gives her herbs and in one case, summon large roots for defense. Finally, she has some proper in the series!
To the specifics, Shiemi wants some friends and ends up being a servant to Izumo, which later ended up with Izumo’s best friend becoming a victim of a summoned demon. The summoned demon part makes the two episodes interesting. I mean, who ordered the Tamer to attack Rin and why he is interested in seeing him “go blue?” Also, I love the fact that we are given a chance to see demon’s thoughts about being summoned by a Tamer.
To Izumo, she is a tsudere, she is friendly towards her best friend and unfriendly towards the rest of the cram school students. Also, the fact that she tries not to show her true feelings proves that she is indeed a tsudere and what’s more, she pulls a poker face in some occasions. Overall, it was a good two-parter episode due to the proper balance between the Izumo focus and the plot focus about the Tamer who attacks Rin.
