Or Blackie depending on you sub, this episode introduces Father Fujimoto’s familiar, Kuro and now he is on a rampage because he can’t believe that Fujimoto died. Therefore, the Okamura siblings are on the scene to stop the rampaging familiar.
Few words, I love Kuro! For starters, I am fan of Cait Sith of Final Fantasy VII and I have this weird love with talking cats (blame Bleach’s Yoruichi) or cats that can talk via telepathy and Kuro is no exception. What’s more is that he has this interesting back story which cause me to pity Kuro during the episode. He just wants to have some friends. Also, I love how the episode ended, Father Fujimoto still loves Kuro that he is not willing to kill his familiar!
As for the other things that are happening in this episode, it was pretty weak compared to the Kuro content in my opinion. Sure, Amainon is now inside the academy and now has the infinite key and is now interested in researching about Japan, so what? He never felt a threat in my opinion compared to how he was depicted in the previous episode in which he was able to defeat a creature 10 to 15 times his size! The episode also shows us the exorcist ranking and learned that Fujimoto is actually a Paladin, the highest class in the exorcist hierarchy.
Overall, it was a good episode. The Kuro focus in this episode is really good and the fact that he is depicted as a grieving demon rather than the ordinary rampaging demon that we had in the past few weeks is a good change of pace and proves to us that not most demons are not rampaging for no apparent reason at all. The episode also shows more similarities between Rin and Fujimoto as seen on how Rin calmed down the rampaging Kuro and ends up being his familiar thanks to Yukio’s actions. Oh, to end this up, I love that Kuro loves drinking catnip wine!
