Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger 15 – Fabulous Basco I

All Basco related reviews will be entitled, “Fabulous Basco” because he is fabulous. Anyways, Basco makes his debut and along with it, old issue with his Marvey-chan where opened, leading to a flashback scene of the fall of the Red Pirates. Also, the one-shot character from Boukenger vs. Super Sentai, AkaRed is confirmed to have a major involvement with this one!

Now to the man of the hour, Basco ta Jolokia, all I can say is asides that he is fabulous is that, contrary to what most people say that he is a troll, he is just one magnificent greedy bastard. I mean, if he is just a troll then he should interfere with everything that the Gokaigers are doing but no, he has this proper timing when he will have his presence felt and when he will ruin their lives, as seen in the flashback scene. Also, what adds up to his charm is that he can summon Rangers thanks to his trumpet. To make matters worst, when he first showed up, he summoned past Sixth Rangers with notable street cred!

Speaking of the flashback scene, that pretty much gives us the entire background about why the Gokaigers have the Ranger Keys and why AkaRed is pretty much involved in what is happening in the series. The flashback scene was brief and straight to the point.

Lastly, to what happened with the sixth Rangers versus the Gokaigers. To begin with, those summons are similar to Diend summons from Kamen Rider Decade except that these summons are past sixth Rangers in which according to the basics of Super Sentai are the strongest heroes in their debut episode before their power levels will mellow down in the succeeding episodes. And yes, the Gokaigers had a hard time facing these summons for the first time. But even with that obstacle, what’s surprising is that they never transformed into any past Ranger when they are in deep trouble. That alone pretty much convinces me that even without transforming into any of the past Rangers, they can still handle the watered down versions of these past Sixth Rangers.

Overall, it was one good episode. So good that it is one of the episodes that I tend to watch over and over again due to Basco being one magnificent bastard and him giving the Gokaigers this sense of victory before using more of his extra Sixth Ranger Keys. In which the one who beat Ahim is AbareKiller, in which Ahim supposed to transform into, and telling Marvelous his true intention. What a magnificent bastard.
