For its release of Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition on XBLA and PSN, Capcom enlisted the awesome Stanley "Artgerm" Lau to provide new character artwork. The results are wonderful.
Capcom currently has a contest called Finish Me going where artists are invited to add backgrounds to the character artwork. You can find high-quality PNGs of all the characters for download on the contest site.
In the recent 2010 Comic-Con, leading video game publisher, CAPCOM, announced that the team-up of the two of the most popular fighting games are in the works. Behold Street Fighter x Tekken video game for the PlayStation 3 and XBox 360.
The announcement was made by Super Street Fighter producer, Yoshinori Ono during the recent Comic-Con event held at San Diego, California. According to him, “This is history we're making. Two fighting games that have rivalled each other are finally standing on the same stage. This isn't just a showdown between Tekken and Street Fighter, but a decisive battle for Capcom and Namco Bandai Games. So I'm going to give it my all.”
The Street Fighter x Tekken video game will be using the same technology used in Street Fighter IV and Super Street Fighter IV, 2D gameplay will feature fully realized 3D character models battling for domination in both new and familiar highly detailed environments that are brought to life with engaging animations.
Street Fighter x Tekken will also feature a Tag Team combat where players select two fighters to deliver knockout assist attacks and special combos, similar to NAMCO's Tekken Tag Tournament. So far, only four characters from each franchises are confirmed to be included on Street Fighter x Tekken video game. They are Ryu and Chun-Li for Street Fighter, and Kazuya Mishima and Nina Williams for Tekken.
The release date for Street Fighter x Tekken video game for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 is yet to be announced. Being a fan of Street Fighter, I am exicted about this game! I mean, fans dreramed that someday, Jin and Ryu would face each other and here it is!
Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars is currently available in stores for the Wii. With that in mind, I figured it would be a good time to post the remaining artwork I found. Enjoy the pics!
The focus of today's Artist Spotlight post is Stanley Lau. Also known by the name "Artgerm," Lau is one of the founding members of Imaginary Friends Studios. He's an incredible artist who most recently has done work for DC Comics, providing the cover artwork for series Final Crisis Aftermath: Dance, The Great Ten, and The Web. He's also done promotional artwork for Sony's God of War video games and artwork for various trading cards among other stuff.
In the spirit of Marvel vs. Capcom and Capcom vs. SNK comes the new game Tatsunoko vs. Capcom for the Wii. Set to be released next month, this game pits Capcom characters against characters from Tatsunoko Productions.
The name Tatsunoko might not be familiar to some, but if you're an anime fan, chances are that you've heard of something they've produced. Their works include Speed Racer, Tekkaman (aka Teknoman), Casshan/Casshern, and Gatchaman, which is better known under the G-Force and Battle of The Planets names.
I like the art style of this game. I especially like the way the Tatsunoko guys are portrayed. I'm a big fan of superheroes in tight lycra and well, that's what many of those guys are wearing. Check out some more art from the game below.

Today's post focuses on the character Vega from the Street Fighter games. This is the character that's also known as Balrog in Japan. He is a character that seems to know how hot he is. He doesn't wear his mask to hide his identity and instead wears it, in part, to protect his beautiful face.
