Galaxy Express 999 Live-Action Planned!


Starblazers.com and Otaku USA has just recently made an interview with famed manga and anime creator, Leiji Matsumoto (Space Battleship Yamato, Captain Harlock) and he revealed that a live-action version of one of his famed works, Galaxy Express 999 (pronounced as Three-Nine) is under development!

According to Matsumoto, one of the difficulties in the proposed live-action Galaxy Express 999 project is finding an actor to play Captain Harlock that he might cast someone outside Japan to get the perfect Harlock.

Even with this difficulty, he noted that, there are Japanese actresses who look like Maetel and Emeraldas." Aside from that, another anime project coming from the famed creator called, Zero Desigze which will be released this year!


Galaxy Express 999 is about an orphaned named Tetsuro Hoshino who wants to have an indestructible machine body so that he can live forever, and for him to get it for free, he will ride a train called, Galaxy Express 999 and reach the end of the Andromeda Galaxy. The problem is, it only comes to Earth once a year.

Along the way, he meets a beautiful woman called, Maetel who has the spitting image of her dead mother. She offered our protagonist an unlimited pass of the said train and together, they set on their journey at the end of the Andromeda Galaxy! Also, the said anime features appearances by Captain Harlock, Emeraldas, and various characters from Matsumoto's other stories.
