Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger 16 – Fabulous Basco II

In the part 2 of Basco’s fabulous adventure, Marvey-chan seems to have a hard time to think if he must sacrifice his team for the sake of his dream or sacrifice his dream for the sake of his dreams? Also, we learned how Marvey-chan met AkaRed and become a member of the Red Pirates.

Even if the actual title of the episode is Clash! Sentai VS Sentai, it felt the Sentai vs. Sentai battle was for show and had no actual effect in the entire episode asides that they got 10 more Ranger Keys for them to complete the set of main 187 Ranger Keys not including Silver’s. As for the entire episode, it is about Marvelous’ decision if he must give up his crew or not, which leads us to the flashback on how he met AkaRed and obtains his first Ranger Key, the Aka Ranger Key.

The flashback is in my opinion, is the main highlight of the episode along with Marvelous’ decision of having the Keys and steals his crew away from Basco. One thing that really impressed me with this episode is that AkaRed, unarmed was able to defeat Marvelous who is wielding a sword! In addition, AkaRed’s words is the complete opposite of Basco’s philosophy of equivalent trade giving up something to gain something.

Now for the battles in this episode, the out of suit scuffle between Marvelous and Basco was really impressive, sure it was short but it clearly shows that actors can actually fight without the help of their doubles. As for the Sentai vs. Sentai duel, it was really fun to watch especially how the girls handled their group. I mean, seriously, Luka is doing her Kratos thing while Ahim flying spins in the air and shoots the Rangers! As for the others, Marvelous’ fight with ShinkenGold and MagiShine is fun to watch compared to Joe and Don’s fight with the rest of the sixth Rangers.

As for the new Final Wave finisher, it is awesome so awesome that it is hard to describe it in words. And to my surprise after that, Basco was able to summon a liquid being coming from Sally’s chest compartment! It seems that Basco has more things under his sleeve!

Overall, it was a great way to end a two-parter. What’s more is that the final part of the episode really proves that he is indeed a magnificent bastard since he still has OTHER Ranger Keys in his sleeve that he didn’t reveal in their previous encounter! It seems that this would not be the last time we will see Basco!
