Signs That You Are A Pinoy Watching Anime.

Due to my boredom a few weeks ago, I decided to create a list of the signs that you are Pinoy watching anime here in the Philippines. In case I have forgotten something, please post it on the comments section. :D

  • These shows are called this in the Philippines and these are:
  1. Yu Yu Hakusho – Ghost Fighter
  2. Hajime no Ippo – Knock Out!
  3. Jyushi Enbu – Destiny Warriors
  4. Rurouni Kenshin – Samurai X
  5. Suteki Tatei Labyrinth – Lovely Detective LabyrinthYamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge/The Wallflower – Yamato Nadeshiko: The Wallflower
  • You know the Voltes V Theme.
  • You watched Trigun, Hell Teacher Nube, Sorcerer Hunters, GTO, Witch Hunter Robin, Bubble Gum Crisis and Flint the Time Detective only ONCE.
  • You knew Yusuke, Kuwabara, Kurama and Hiei as Eugene, Alfred, Dennis and Vincent. They come from the anime, Ghost Fighter.
  • The only 4Kids dub show you watched is Pokemon.
  • The first anime you saw is either the anime shown in ABS-CBN in the morning or Voltes V and Daimos if not, Ghost Fighter.
  • Instead of saying Multiple Shadow Clone Jutsu or Tajun Kage Bushin no Jutsu, you say, Kage Bushin Technique, Times 2, Times 2, Times 2!
  • Instead of saying, Kamehameha, you say, Kamehame Wave!
  • Instead of saying Hercule or Mr. Satan, you call him Master Pogi.
  • You knew Yanagi, Fuko, Domon, Tokiya and Kaoru as Anna, Aira, Max, Dylan and Lorkan. They came from the anime, Flame of Recca.
  • You watched two out of three of the Robot Romance Trilogy.
  • You knew that there is a Jungle Book, Secret Garden, A Little Princess and Daddy Long Legs anime.
  • You noticed that Sunako, of YamaNade says her actions, example, “Singhot, singhot (Sniff, sniff).” And “NOSEBLEED!”
  • You once owned a Tamiya 4WD when the anime, Let’s Go aired, later; you owned a Beyblade, then a Crush Gear.
  • You got the chance to watch Samurai X The Movie, Bleach: Memories of Nobody, Yu Yu Hakusho the Movie and Pokemon Movies on free TV.
  • You got the chance to rent official VHS tapes of Voltes V, Bubble Gum Crisis and Let’s Go! In addition, you know that there are official VHS tapes of Trigun and Monster Rancher.
  • You prefer the ABS-CBN dub of Cardcaptor Sakura.
  • You call Slam Dunk’s Sakuragi as Gung-Gong, Fukuda as Fukulot, Kogure as Labo, and Coach Anzai as Tatang.
  • A girl first voiced Kurama of Yu Yu Hakusho and yet he wears a guy’s school uniform... and he is first called as Denise.
  • Lupin the 3rd catchphrase every time he escapes from Zenigata is, “Babayuu!”
  • You noticed all the main characters of Yu-Gi-Oh! are names are their 4Kids dub names except for later characters like Ishuzu and Marik in which they are named, Eunice and Mark.
  • Speaking of Yu-Gi-Oh!, you noticed that the YGO! GX dub didn’t use the 4Kids names or the Japanese names, instead they used a different set of names, example, Syrus is called Paolo and Bastion is called Rocky. Jaden is no exception; he was called Judei, mainly because of a certain “Judai” who is a girl.
  • You miss the old GMA.
  • For those living outside Manila, you noticed that Rockman. EXE, after its season ended, when it returned, you watched Rockman. EXE Stream.
  • You have been watching the same Doraemon and Detective Conan (At least they showed 3-5 new episodes!) episodes.
  • You love TV5… and waiting for new titles coming from that station, Lucky*Star will air on TV5 according to OtakuZine!

  • You were surprised when Toradora!, Special A, Code Geass, FMA: Brotherhood aired on free TV.
  • You were shocked when you learn via the internet that we were first to acquire Naruto outside Japan.
  • You were sad when you learned that Marky Cielo died best known for as Zaido Green and dubbed Ichigo Kurosaki in Bleach. In addition, you felt Ichigo is not Ichigo in the Filipino dub.
  • You keep on watching reruns of Slam Dunk, Yu Yu Hakusho, Flame of Recca, and you watched Voltes V in both English and Filipino, in addition, you watched Voltes V in more than one station.
  • You watched Hunter X Hunter before America did.
  • You pronounced Hunter X Hunter as Hunter Eks Hunter, not Hunter Hunter like in the original Japanese dub. It goes for Gun X Sword.
  • You got the chance to watch the Hana Yori Dango and the show was dubbed with the same VA’s who did Meteor Garden but you didn’t finished it because in my case, regional TV, in Meteor Garden fans, you prefer DAO MING SE!
  • You got the chance to watch the anime marathons on Studio 23. Shows on marathon are Fruits Basket, Naruto, Samurai X and Duel Masters.
  • You got a chance to read Questor Magazine and heard rumors about the magazine’s “hidden pages.”
Thanks to JFC of HJU, he reminded me of Pinoy's love for karaoke and that is:
  • You got a chance to sing or find the Voltes V theme and Yu Yu Hakusho (Ghost Fighter) theme, in the karaoke.
