Kamen Rider OOO & W feat. Skull: The First Official Images

The wait is over! The first official images of Kamen Rider x Kamen Rider OOO & W feat. Skull: Movie Wars Core is finally revealed! Along with it are some essential bits of the plot of the first two segments: Kamen Rider Skull Message for W and Nobunaga's Desire.

Kamen Rider W: Kamen Rider Skull Message for W

A mysterious monster fights W and Accel. Suddenly the bride Akiko shows up running. It's actually their wedding ceremony and a monster suddenly flew in. The monster is holding a Gaia Memory, which reveals the past of Sokichi during 1999.

The newly weds, Akiko and Ryu... and the bride is ready to give her husband a good smack!

In the year 1999, we are reintroduced to Sokichi Narumi (Koji Kikkiwa) and some new characters. Sokichi in here has just left his hometown, Osaka for a job as a detective in Futo, leaving his wife and only daughter.

In this pic, it seems that he is not wearing his signature whites... but still, he looks hard-boiled.

He is Matsu (Yamamoto Taro), Sokichi's partner and is Philip to Sokichi's case. His real name is Matsu Seichiro. He is the one responsible in making documents coming from various books to back up Sokichi's investigations.

Melissa (Yamamoto Hikaru who also plays Akiko) is a popular opera singer in Futo and it is possible that she is Sokichi's wife and Akiko's mother. She is said to be targeting a certain Spider Man.

If you watched the first episode of Kamen Rider, Spider Man is the name of Kamen Rider's first monster that he defeated and since then, its a running tradition that a spider monster will be the first monster a Rider will beat. Will this be the first monster Sokichi will fight as Skull?

Komori Hachisu (Kadena Reon) is a Museum merchant. This cold-blooded woman is speaking ruthless words and is said to transform herself into a Dopant.

Seriously, what's with W that it has too many females turning themselves into monsters? Not that I am complaining!

Since the film was set back in 1999, expect some old characters from W will appear in their younger selves, to be exact, Shroud will appear in the film in her younger self.

Kamen Rider OOO: Nobunaga's Desire

The Kougami Foundation created a homonculus through Nobunaga's body. However, the homonculus escaped from their laboratory. A mysterious monster starts killing people, while Eiji meets a young man who has lost his memories. The nature of monster is unknown. He kill only the progeny of the war-torn country military commander and leave the paper which wrote a family crest in the spot.

Akechi Yoshino (Sayako), Hina's senior, She is a descendant of Mitsuhide Akechi. She dream of continuing dancing as a ballerina.

Nobunaga (Ookuchi Kengo), Eiji came across with the young man who loss his memories. Eiji Protected young Nobunaga, he seems didn't remember anything except his last name. They both come to work as part-time together. What's the mystery behind this man? Is he a friend or a foe?
Ankh heard the women screams, but he encounter an unknown monster that he never seen before. Is it a Yummy, a Greeed or something else?

Nobunaga and Eiji... and it seems that they are comparing pantsu!

GoGo V 1 – Rescue Soldiers! Rise Up! Review

GoGoVexy has subbed the first episode of Kyukyu Sentai GoGo V. To be honest, I am not a fan of the GoGo V suits, but it looks fitting for a rescue force. Anyways, here’s what happened on their first day as a Sentai team.

The Earth is now at the center of the Solar System in terms of planetary alignment. Because of this, it formed a cross, called a Grand Cross that will cause a great disaster upon Earth. Now, a meteor is hurling towards our planet. Meanwhile, a scientist was able to predict this catastrophe and it is time for him to take action.

The meteor hit Earth and now, its time for the rescuers to start their action! We are now introduced to the Tatsumi siblings. We first introduced to Matoi, a firefighter, Nagare, a chemist of the fire department, Shou, a member of the Aviation Division of the fire department, Daimon, a police officer and Matsuri, the only female in the siblings and a paramedic. After doing their respective jobs in controlling the situation, the five met up and witnessed the rise of a monster coming from the fallen meteorite.

In true Sentai fashion, it started terrorizing town. After this short terrorizing scene, we saw the siblings back in a small house, its there old house and we saw a robot, who introduces itself as Mint. We then learned the man being foreshadowed earlier is their father, Tatsumi Mondo and he was missing for ten years.

Naturally, one of the siblings will be pissed about it considering that he never showed up for ten years. But this is serious business they are dealing with so, we are introduced to the base, the way going into the base and the GoGo Brace, this show’s henshin device. After they arrived into the top of the base, they received instructions to press the button of their respective brace and to transform. This is where they received their color designation. Matoi is GoRed, Nagare is GoBlue, Shou is GoGreen, Daimon is GoYellow and obviously, Matsuri is GoPink.

They team now entered the GoLiner and started operating it. How they operate it? There’s a computer found in there helmets that aides them in operating such things. Now, the GoLiner is heading to the scene. After they arrived, they received an order to move to the vehicles at the back of each car of the train. All of them went to their designated vehicle. Now, most of them are in amazement of the mechanism found in their vehicle.

GoRed now started to look for survivors, he found two kids and an adult stuck in an elevator. Since this is a rescue team, they are now heading to save those who are trapped in the building.

So, since they can’t come closer to the building, they are commanded to form the first combination of their respective mecha, the Victory Walker. How they will form it, simple, like in good ol’ Bioman, the computer found in their helmets will aide them. Now kiddies, look for your dad’s old Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue toys and for these! Using the green’s mecha, it will pull the blue’s mecha to form the legs and then, using the pink and yellow’s mecha, they will form the feet! We now have a walking torso that extinguishes flames. Wait. What?! This is the weirdest Sentai gattai I have ever seen!

Since the flames died and the magma is cooling thanks to a walking… torso, its time for red to take action, his mecha will not be called Red Ladder if it doesn’t have a ladder or something! So, after setting the mecha by punching the building to create a hole, the three, Red, Yellow and Pink, take action. After Yellow found the survivors, the cable in the elevator broke and now, they are now officially stucked in the elevator.

This is when the Life Bird came into picture. Red called the Life Bird and this is where we saw its multi-purpose capabilities. Its beak became a drill for Red and bits of it became a fire extinguisher for Pink. After they rescued Yellow and the survivors, we are now back with the monster.

Red asked Yellow and Pink to find a safe place for the survivors. Red returned to his mecha, retracted his mecha’s ladder hand…, and almost was killed by the monster but because of Green’s support; he lifted his older brother and now, its time for the five mecha to combine to form the Victory Robo.

The mecha came closer to the monster and did some rapid punches using the ladder arms from earlier! The magma flowed coming from the monster stopped and at the end, they were able to beat it and it died with a bang. So, a new heroes are born in the year 1999, they are Kyukyu Sentai… GoGo V!

On to the review, unlike most Sentai series that I watched, we are introduced to the mecha earlier in the series. Most of the time, it will take at least 2-3 weeks before the mecha introduction, the longest that I watched was on Jetman, which took them 5 weeks before they introduced the mecha and the following episode to introduce Jet Icarus!

Speaking of the mecha, it fits with the rescue theme. But until now, Victory Walker still irks me. Seriously, a walking torso that extinguishes flames?! Thank God, it never aired here in the Philippines or else, I might here jokes about it being the other half of a monster that loves to eat babies!

The team was okay to start with. Matoi and Shou stood out in the first episode. Matoi being determined to save lives because he knew, they are the future of the earth while Shou, for being a badass this entire episode and being a good support character to most of them. The others never gave a good impression right now. Maybe the following eps will fill those things, and I heard thanks to the Gaoranger vs. Super Sentai film, that Daimon loves to drink milk and it is like his spinach!

We were never introduced to the main enemies. But seeing the monster of the week, it seems that they are one terrifying group of villains.

Overall, the first episode of GoGo V is a good start of the series. It gives us a really good impression about the team. The suits fit well to the rescue theme but the amount of whites found in the suit still troubles me because it sometimes distract me. The whites partly overpowered the look of the entire suit. Since it started with a bang, hope they would maintain it till the very end of the series.

One Piece 598: Start of the Final Phase!

One Piece 598: Start of the Final ArcIf you are an avid One Piece manga reader, you might have already known that the adventures of the Straw Hat Pirates will soon come to an end.

Eiichiro Oda, author and mangaka of One Piece states on one of his magazine interviews that One Piece Chapter 598: 3D2y is the start of the final One Piece story arc: The New World.

"Thanks to all, I was able to rest very well. Thank you for the great time I enjoyed. My fuel tank is full now!! The New World Arc will be heading towards the end of the story of One Piece. As I ponder about the new adventures, it’s so exciting I feel like I’m starting a new serial! Please look forward to the adventures in the last sea, the New World!"
One Piece 598: Start of the Final ArcThe New World (Shin Sekai) refers to the second half of the Grand Line and the only people to have fully explored it are The Pirate King: Gol D. Roger and his crew.

And similar to what happened to Naruto: Shippuden and Bleach, there will be a timeskip between Chapter 597: Spectrum and 598: 3D2y, which will now feature the grown-up Straw Hat Pirates:

One Piece 598: Start of the Final ArcLuffy got new scar on his chest and Zoro has one too on his right eye. Sanji looks more manly, although now his right eye is hidden. Robin now looks similar to Hancock. Franky looks weird with that head, and Usopp looks cooler. Nami got bigger boobs. Chopper and Brook looks almost the same.

Even though it is stated that this is the last arc of the story. Rest assured that fans will still be served with its good storyline and epic moments, we can still hope for another 200+ chapters.

One Piece Manga Chapter 598: 3D2y will be released later this week. We will post a link once scanlations are up.

EDIT: One Piece will not be ending very soon. Eiichiro Oda have said in his latest interview that One Piece will only be entering its final "phase" and is only halfway on its run. Maybe think of this as when Dragonball entered the Z stage. XD

To those who are not familiar with the series, a secret organization called, Black Ghost kidnaps nine humans and turned them into cyborgs for them to serve the organization. But since this is an Ishinomori title, these cyborgs defect the organization and fight against them. There are three anime series regarding the said title which was released respectively on: 1966, 1979 and 2001.

Here's a the opening of the original series that aired in 1966 which, unlike the original source which was dark and have themes advanced for its time, the anime was aimed for a younger audience.

It was later remade in 1979, in full color:

MEGA MAN LEGENDS 3 PROJECT KICKS OFF!!

Hi everyone! This is Masakazu Eguchi, director of MEGA MAN LEGENDS 3!

So, how about that Keiji Inafune special interview? Did you like that?

As you can see, Inafune is very enthusiastic about this project. And that new development style that he said he would go into more detail about later, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed by that. We think not only fans of the series, but anyone interested in Mega Man Legends will be like, “What? …OMG!!!”

When I and the rest of the staff first heard that were that we were doing this, we were shaking in our boots. All of us were asking our bosses, “Are you guys serious?”

But the proposition was interesting to say the least. So, now here we are making intense preparations and trying to stay on schedule.

…Having said that, there are so many details about the project that I am dying to tell all of you… but you’ll have to wait and let your imaginations run wild for just a little longer, until the Comic Con in New York next month!

Until then, I’ll use this blog to introduce to members of my team, and tell you a little about what’s going on here in the Dev Lab. I’ll do my best to update it at least once a week, so check back often!

To those who don't have the idea, Rockman DASH or Megaman Legends is set in a distinct future, more further than the original Rockman series. Unlike its big brother, its in an RPG-style format and not the side scroller format. The original game was released in the Playstation.

Departures (Okuribito) Movie Review

Departures (Okuribito) is a Japanese film directed by Yojiro Takita. It won in the 81st Oscar Awards last 2009 for Best Foreign Language film. Aside from that, this film won other awards from various film festivals and the like. The film is about a former orchestra cellist, because of strange turn of events, ends up being an assistant for a certain ceremony in which I will talk about in a short while.

Daigo Kobayashi (Masahiro Motoki) is a cellist who worked in an orchestra in Tokyo. Because he lost his job after the orchestra dissolved, he decided to sell his expensive cello and along with his wife, Mika (Ryoko Hirosue) to move back into his hometown in Sakata which she agrees sweetly.

Jobless, he looks for a job in a newspaper coming from the ‘NK Agency’ that has high pay. Thinking that it is about a travel agency due to the nature of the ad saying about “departures,” he comes into the agency and seeks for the job. After a really quick interview, he receives his advance and learns the true nature of the job.

It turned out that the sign in the ad was wrong and his boss reveals that NK is the abbreviation for nōkan, in English, “encoffinment,” a ceremony about purifying and dressing up the dead before he/she will be slowly placed in his/her coffin. Learning the nature, and since he is already here, he gives the job a shot. After learning the art from his boss, and doing various jobs (His first job by the way, is regarding an two-week old corpse of an old lady), his wife learns about it (He kept secret his job on his wife) and leaves him due to the nature of his job, causing him to think thoroughly about it.

After making a resolution about his job to continue it and after a few months, his wife returned to tell him the news that she is pregnant. Later on, she accepts his job after seeing the beauty of the process. After a few other jobs, they received a telegram, telling that his estranged father, who left him when he was a child died. Will he claim his father’s corpse or will he leave it in the harbor with no one to take care of it? Will he close the issues between him and his dead father? It is for you to find out.

On to the review, when I first saw the poster of the film, I thought it is something to do about music. I was wrong. And like Daigo ending up being an assistant of an encoffinment guy (Since I don’t have the idea how to call the guy in the said profession), I ended up watching the film and it was worth it.

I have been a little interested in the business related to the dead. It is something that bothers me. Are those people working on the said business bothered with the corpses they faced everyday? The film answered it. Sure, the process of encoffinment is different from embalming since encoffinment is more in purification on the outside while embalming is about making the corpse smell… better. But seeing Daigo’s reaction when he first saw a decaying corpse gives me an impression that all people working in the business related to the dead experience it.

Aside from this, I saw how the Japanese treat the dead. They treat the dead with outmost respect and the scenes in someone’s wake was one of the touching moments of the film especially to the woman working in the bathhouse. To give you a little background about her, she doesn’t want to sell her bathhouse until she dies while her son insist in selling it to build a condominium. Her scenes in her encoffinment, till her cremation where one of the most genuine scenes in the film.

Speaking of genuine reactions, all of the clients that Daigo met have genuine reactions as they saw their dead ones being beautiful after the process. The most touching was the scene regarding to a dead homosexual and his father. They never gave much background about the family except they hinted us that the father doesn’t accept his son as he is, until the said scene happen.

About acceptance, it is one of the themes of the film, acceptance. Acceptance coming from his wife that it is his husband’s job to make those who died ready once they face the next step to their journey. In which at the end, she accepted when she saw the beauty of her husband’s job.

Lastly, accepting that whatever he did to you, he is still your father, which is what Daigo faced in the entire film. His father left him when he was young to go with a waitress that is working in their café. After learning that his father died, will he claim his body? The last scenes relating to Daigo’s father was one of the best scenes in the entire film that I cried while watching it. I am serious. I am not that emotional but the scene reminded me that my father was away most of the time back when I was a kid and we barely talk back then.

The score for the film was brilliant and it fits the entire film perfectly considering that Daigo played the cello most of the time.

The beauty about this film is the process of carefully purifying the dead. This is the highlight of the said film. It was slow, yet beautiful that you see every fine detail of the process. It was one of the unforgettable parts of the film.

Does the film have bad spots? There is a bad spot in the film. Due to the slow process of encoffinment, there is a tendency you might get bored in watching it and you tend to fall asleep, that is why the film has some minor comedic scenes.

The film is also, about what is next after we die? Although it is discussed subtly, it is one of the topics that are found in the film. When Daigo first saw a corpse in his first job, he went to the bathhouse and scrubbed everything in his body and later, went to his wife and feel her existence, that she is breathing and that she is warm. You might find that reaction kind of overrating but I find it dramatic. Another time this was discussed is when the good friend of the owner of the bathhouse speaks about what is next after we die before he cremates his good friend.

Overall, Departures is one great film. Even the film has this serious tone, it still has scenes that is funny (A sample, the scene where Daigo purifies a “female” client). The thing about Departures is that it is about acceptance, acceptance in one’s job and acceptance in one’s family. It is also about having a proper send off to your love one before he/she will meet his/her creator and the people who are behind in giving you love one a proper send off. No wonder it won an Oscar last 2009.

The Sokichi and Shroud Factor

There is one episode in Kamen Rider W in which Shroud mentioned Philip that she knows the Narumi Detective Agency's underground before he came to the place. I think this clip might be a proof on what she said.

If I would tie in the rumors and the facts mentioned in the series itself, I think this pic above might happen before Begins Night started. It was stated at the finale of the series that it was Shroud who hired Sokichi. Also, there can be another interpretation on this scene.

Since Shroud's hair is short and the possibility that it is still a couple of years after she was burned by Ryubee, we might say this scene might be a scene regarding Sokichi obtaining his Skull Memory and Lost Driver.

Note: Until there is a confirmation coming from Toei about this scene, there are a lot of possible interpretations on this. Its up to you on how you see it.
