The following review is from a Super Sentai parody of a Super Sentai parody. Gekisou Sentai Carranger and Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger are all owned by Toei Company, Ltd. and Ishimori Productions, please support the official release. If you don’t get the intro speech, you are not watching those Abridged series.
Anyways, in this episode Kyosuke Jinnai aka Red Racer stole the spotlight, Suzaku Kururugi was “reincarnated” as Jelousit (or Jeloushitto) who has a big crush on Insarn since they entered space high school and meanwhile, Insarn fells in love with Kyosuke! Umm, Insarn, the guy is taken in real life (he is married with DekaPink) and in the actual series (Zonette is his girlfriend of sorts).
To the actual review, this is the best tribute episode ever. Sure, Carranger’s grand power is basically cheering kids and the Carranger powers don’t have an actual mecha or any special attack once the Ranger Keys are inserted (the Pirate Racing Slash/Gokai Gekisou Giri didn’t involve inserting the Carranger Keys on the GokaiOh.). However, the fact that this episode reminded us about the humor of Carranger and the fact that Kyosuke stole the spotlight from the Gokaigers made this episode extremely lovable that it is worth watching countless times… along with the Zyuranger powers redeeming itself after being defeated by the MOTW in the first part of the Shinkenger tribute.
As for the actual plot of the episode, it is really funny. From start to finish, you will laugh in every scene in this episode! From Kyosuke breaking the fourth wall till Insarn interfering with Jelousit’s attacks on Kyosuke in which if you pause for a second, you’ll see Kyosuke’s body being replaced by a dummy at some point when Insarn uses him as a rod. And my personal favorite, the Gokaigers transforming into the Turborangers instead of the Carrangers... and Kyosuke using Don as a human shield the list goes on with those moments of hilarity! Also, did I mention about space high school?
Overall, it is one of the best tribute episodes in the entire series. What’s more is that this episode didn’t feel like an average Gokaiger tribute episode, but more like a Carranger episode with the Gokaigers as guest stars! One thing to note in this episode to those who haven’t watched Carranger is that Jelousit reverting into his normal size after he was defeated and being disposed by a different character happens in Carranger. Heck, in its second episode, a UFO killed the MOTW after he was blasted by the Carrangers in space!
