Nintama Rantaro Premiere Event


Seishiro Kato, the star of the upcoming Nintama Rantaro live-action movie, made an appearance with his fellow cast members at a premiere event in Kanagawa Rasona Kawasaki Plaza. Kato who plays the role of a ninja in training, Rantaro mentions that his dream role is a ninja!

He comments, "My future dream was to become a ninja so I was very happy. It was my first time playing the lead role so I was nervous, but the shooting was fun." Sporting his ninja costume he shouted "A ninja is to have guts!" with 100 children in attendance.

Aside from Kato, fellow ninja trainee Roi Hayashi and Fuuta Kimura, as well as adult cast members, Takahiro Miura, Rei Dan, Hiroki Matsukata, Yuma Ishigaki, and director, Takeshi Miike made an appearance at the premiere event. Shooting took place last summer in the record breaking heat in Kyoto and Miura commented, "It was very hot being surrounded by all these kids but they gave me power and energy to make it through."

Matsukata, who had a lot of special make up for his role as Happosai Hieta, commented, "3 hours, and on top of that, it was heavy, but I was able to have fun," and even joking, "The kids were so noisy."

Director Miike commented, "Mainly the kids worked really hard but Happosai Hieta and Headmaster’s (Mikijiro Hira) serious battle at the hot spring, was a scene I was so glad we got to shoot. It was a man’s battle to be fought" With confidence he also commented, "This summer there are big productions like Harry Potter and Pokemon coming out, but you will be able to say ‘Nintama Rantaro’ was number one."
