The remake of the classic TOHO Studios 1954 tokusatsu film, Godzilla (Gojira) now has a director according to The Hollywood Reporter! To give you a short background, this is the second time Hollywood made a Godzilla remake. The first was Sony's Godzilla... and it is crappy.
Gareth Edwards, is a British filmmaker who wrote and directed indie sci-fi movie Monsters, is closing a deal to develop and direct the monster flick produced by Legendary Pictures (The Dark Knight, Inception). Edwards will now work with a new yet-to-hired writer on the script.
Edwards’ indie film, Monsters has won the filmmaker three British Independent Film Awards, including nods for best director, best achievement in production and best technical achievement. It seems he is qualified to direct this classic 1954 tokusatsu film!
To those who are wondering how this film will be like, this film according to its producer, Brain Rogers this film will be as much as possible, as close as to the original Japanese film in which good ol' Godzilla will fight giant monsters! Even with that, Godzilla will not be a classic rubber suit, but a CGI monster. Aww.
