Batman's Goyer Writes for Godzilla Remake!

David S. Goyer best known for his work in Nolan's Batman Trilogy is set to rewrite the script for the Godzilla remake according to the reports from The Deadline. Currently, he is writing for Zack Snyder's upcoming Superman reboot entitled, Man of Steel.

David Callaham already wrote a script for the planned Godzilla remake. If the film is made, Warner Brothers and TOHO will distribute it in their respective countries. Director Gareth Edwards and Legendary Pictures producers Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni are also attached to the project.

Legendary Pictures indicated that its version will hew closer to the original 1954 film rather than Sony's 1998 Godzilla remake.

Gareth Edwards Talks About Godzilla (2012)!

After the announcement that Monsters director, Gareth Edwards, an independent sci-fi flick was chosen by Legendary Pictures as the man who will direct the Godzilla reboot, may wondered what can this guy can do since Godzilla will be his second film.

And so, on an Exclusive interview made by Shock Till You Drop about the said director gives us answers about the running question about his capabilities and if he can do justice to Toho's legendary movie monster. Here's the excerpt of the said interview:

"I'm a big fan," Edwards tells Shock, palpably choosing his words wisely when it comes to talking about his latest endeavor. "I guess I will say I'm highly aware - and everyone involved is incredibly aware - of everyone's opinions on what this film has to do and what it has to be. And no one will do anything but the right thing. Without addressing anything specific, everyone knows how important is to get it right."

He can't talk about the scripting process (he did reveal he's not writing the film), however, he recalls his introduction to the long-running franchise. "My earliest memories was channel 4, they showed them every Friday night. As a kid I wasn't quite sure about the dubbing, the English-dubbed versions. They threw me for a bit. I love science fiction and, well I call them B movies but they're not, but I love '60s and '70s sci-fi. But these would come on and be dubbed and it would take my kid brain to adjust to the dubbing. It took me some time to get through that."

Based on this interview, I have high hopes that this film will work and hopefully, it would not end up like that OTHER Godzilla film. You know what I am talking about!

Godzilla will be released on 2012.

British Indie Director Directs Godzilla Remake

The remake of the classic TOHO Studios 1954 tokusatsu film, Godzilla (Gojira) now has a director according to The Hollywood Reporter! To give you a short background, this is the second time Hollywood made a Godzilla remake. The first was Sony's Godzilla... and it is crappy.

Gareth Edwards, is a British filmmaker who wrote and directed indie sci-fi movie Monsters, is closing a deal to develop and direct the monster flick produced by Legendary Pictures (The Dark Knight, Inception). Edwards will now work with a new yet-to-hired writer on the script.

Edwards’ indie film, Monsters has won the filmmaker three British Independent Film Awards, including nods for best director, best achievement in production and best technical achievement. It seems he is qualified to direct this classic 1954 tokusatsu film!

To those who are wondering how this film will be like, this film according to its producer, Brain Rogers this film will be as much as possible, as close as to the original Japanese film in which good ol' Godzilla will fight giant monsters! Even with that, Godzilla will not be a classic rubber suit, but a CGI monster. Aww.

Yesterday, Two Giants were Born

On the day of November 3, two giants on their respective field were born. First, was not literally a giant but a regular man who would later change the way we view on comics (If you are used on reading Western comics, literally.) and on animation. The other giant is literally, a giant. These guys are Osamu Tezuka and Godzilla.

On November 3, 1928, the man that in the near future will be known as the God of Manga, Osamu Tezuka was born in Osaka Prefecture. He would later created comics that would forever changed the landscape of the genre that he was in. Titles such as Astro Boy, Black Jack and Kimba the White Lion revolutionized anime to its face right now.


On that same day, 26 years later, a monster who later made quite an impact on movies and on pop culture was born. His name was Godzilla. This guy changed the view on Japanese film making eversince with its techniques used during that time to create quite a believable looking monster film. Two years later, it was released in the US as Godzilla, King of the Monsters! even with the edits, it introduced this monster to the foreign crowd.

A remake of the classic Godzilla film is on the works right now. Hope the remake will live on the spirit of the original Godzilla.
