Power Rangers Samurai Toys Spotted in the Philippines!

After Power Rangers Samurai conquered most of Europe and some parts in Asia, its time for the Philippines to have the Samurai Power Rangers! Toys for the said series can now be seen in local toy shelves and it is still unknown in what TV station the series will air.

Some speculated that Samurai will air on Cartoon Network Philippines due to the show's history with that station, but my guess will be that it will air on Nickelodeon like how other European countries did it. Guess acquiring the license for Samurai Sentai Shinkenger is quite costly compared from getting the Samurai one.

Also, some other things I saw in the photo, I spotted a Ranger Key set at the bottom along with a Dragon Ranger sofubi. Makes me wanna wish that Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger will air in the Philippines!

Skull Returns on Power Rangers Samurai!

As we all know, Bulk is now "training" Spike in the ways of the samurai in Power Rangers Samurai and many fans wondered, where is his father and Bulk's best friend, Skull?

In a recent event called Anime Oasis, Jason David Frank who is best known as Dr. Tommy Oliver aka the first Green Ranger, revealed that Spike's father and Bulk's best friend, Skull will be a guest star on Power Rangers Samurai for a couple of episodes!

Other things that he revealed in the event include the non-canon nature of the series and that there would not be any past Ranger actors to guest star in Samurai and cleared that Deker is NOT Cole Evans/Wild Force Red Ranger.

Power Rangers Samurai's Princess, Revealed!

We have previously reported that Kimberly Crossman is said to play the Female Red Samurai Ranger rumored to be named Lauren and just recently, the very first picture of Kimberly Crossman as the Princess has been released!

In this picture of them slacking off for a while, we saw Kimberly Crossman sitting on a throne with Brittany Anne Pirtle who plays Emily/Yellow Samurai Ranger wearing a royal blue dress while the rest of the boys are just posing for the camera.

In the original series, Kaoru Shiba is the true head of the Shiba clan and Takeru is just holding her place as her kagemusha to protect her from the Gedoushu. It is not sure how this concept will work out in Power Rangers Samurai since they never introduced the lord-vassal concept in the said series.

Also, in this link is a picture during the Power Rangers Samurai Season 2 wrap-up party with the cast members and some identified men and Alex Hartman's girlfriend. Currently, Power Rangers Samurai is on a break and will return this July 2011 on Nick in the US.

Shogun Samurai Ranger Instead of Super Mode?

Most fans are aware that the latest Power Rangers season, Power Rangers Samurai is copying its source material Samurai Sentai Shinkenger, scene by scene with some edits and to the surprise of everyone, the 16th episode of the series entitled, "Boxed In" didn't have the debut of Super ShinkenRed!

To those who don't know, in the original series Genta was able to make the Inomaru work and gave it to Takeru in which he transforms into Super ShinkenRed. In Samurai's case, they did a group attack on the monster and used a different footage for the giant fights.

Instead of having Super ShinkenRed, we have a Battilizer which transforms Red Samurai Ranger in Mega Mode (that explains the holes in the Mega Blade) into Shogun Ranger Fire: Red Ranger! According to the toy description, when in Super Samurai Mode, he is able to call upon the power of the Ancestors to morph into a Shogun Ranger. Based on what happened with the Mega Modes, it seems that they will reshoot everything that is related with the Shinkengers once they are in their Super Mode.

Female Red Samurai Ranger Coming Soon?

After Antonio aka Gold Samurai Ranger's sparkling debut in Power Rangers Samurai, fans are now expecting that anytime soon will be the debut of the female Red Samurai Ranger and here are the first set of rumors.

Take these rumors as a grain of salt.

New Zealand actress, Kimberly Crossman is said to portray the role of female Red Samurai Ranger rumored to be named Lauren or Megan. The reason why she is suspected to play for the said role is because of her following tweets.

  • Sore arms from Samurai fighting today - feel like I'm getting better, thanks to @LeeDonoghue for recommending watching Kill Bill!!
  • GOOOOODMORNING !!! another early start today - Time to show off my Samurai skills.....
  • So sore already... yikkeesss still all afternoon to go - need to work on my fitness and strength - this sword fighting is killing me!

Take note that Paul Schrier and Rick Medina's involvement with Power Rangers Samurai was first hinted via their respective Facebook status messages, in her case via Twitter. Also, Hector David, Jr. who plays the role of Mike aka Green Samurai Ranger also mentioned on Twitter that filming for the series is still on-going while stunt actor, Namihei Koshinge posted on his blog that he is filming for Power Rangers' last episode.

Because of this, fans believed that the second season will use the Goseiger footage or pull another Zyu2 in which they used the Dairanger mecha and weapons and retain the Zyuranger suits.

Antonio, The Gold Samurai Ranger!

Its been months since Power Rangers Samurai aired in the US and a lot of fans wondered when we will see the team's sixth Ranger? Just recently, the latest episode guides of the said series has been released and it is revealed that the sixth Ranger, the Gold Samurai Ranger is named Antonio (played by Steven Skyler)!

Originally named Wesley in the casting sheets, unlike his Super Sentai counterpart, Genta Umemori who is a sushi vendor, Antonio here is a traveling fisherman, a good way to explain ShinkenGold's fish motif.

Anyways, here is the episode guide which talks about this traveling fisherman that owns the Squid Folding Zord and the Claw Folding Zord.

A traveling fisherman named Antonio arrives and claims to be the sixth Samurai Ranger.

When a Nighlok steals people’s spirits, including the Yellow Ranger’s, the other Rangers must defeat him before his victims fall into an eternal sleep.

Power Rangers: Samurai 3rd Opening Sequence

Here's the third opening sequence of Power Rangers: Samurai that debuted on the show's 8th episode called, Forest For the Trees. In this new sequence, they added Rick Medina (Power Rangers Wild Force's Cole Evans/Red Wild Force Ranger) in the scene and credit him as Deker!

This isn't the first time that an old Power Ranger cast member played a different character for the franchise. Namely, John Tui played Anubis "Doggie" Cruger/SPD Shadow Ranger in Power Rangers SPD and later played Daggeron/Solaris Knight. Heck, even in this season we have Rene Naufahu who once played Emperor Grumm from Power Rangers SPD and now plays Mentor Ji in this season.

Power Rangers Samurai's Army of Promo Videos!

It seems that Saban is doing quite a heck of a job in promoting Power Rangers Samurai! Asides from the Samurai Rangers appearing in Good Day in LA, just recently, four clips coming from the first episode of the show, The Team Unites has surfaced the web and yep, it pretty much confirms that this episode is based on Samurai Sentai Shinkenger's Act 3!

Pretty much screams the time Jii is looking for Chiaki for him to force him practice writing... and the fact that he played on an arcade!

Ugh, the puns! The puns! Oh, more ShinkenGreen awesome stock footage!

Still has the same badass effect like that of Act 3. Still epic.

And they are right, the Mega Ranger Mode is Megazord exclusive. Aw, no love for the traditional Japanese-themed cockpit?

And also, some toy commercials for the Switch Morphin' Action Figures and for the DX Samurai Megazord!

Coolest. Toy. Commerical. Ever.

It's like the ShinkenOh, except its cheaper and doesn't look that good compared to the original Japanese toy! But hey, at least they are not producing toys not seen in the series!

Bulk is Back on Power Rangers Samurai!

For fans of the classic Zordon Era Power Rangers series and in some extension, Lost Galaxy, rejoice! A classic character from the original Power Rangers series returns. Nope, its not any of the original Rangers but one of the most loved supporting characters in the franchise, Bulk!

In the latest sneak preview found on IGN (below), we saw a glimpse of Bulk (Paul Schrier) training his nephew the ways of the samurai... and his nephew kinda looks like his long time partner, Skull because he is Skull's son as confirmed by Felix Ryan, Spike's actor!

And Bulk is still... well, good ol' Bulk! Now, where is Skull? Anyways, will this prove that Cole/Wild Force Red Ranger being back as the same old character? Or will he return as someone else considering that it is been hinted by Rick Medina's (Cole's actor) that he is in Australia and doing some filming with the Samurai Cast.

Power Rangers Samurai premieres on Febuary 7th on Nickelodeon in the US.

Power Rangers Samurai 3rd Promo

Here is the third promo of Power Rangers Samurai in which we saw more Shinkenger stock footage being added with some new footage!

The Power Rangers are fighting for years and this time, a new generation of heroes will fight a new threat to humanity. Will the Samurai Rangers able to defeat this new threat? That is what we will find out this February 7th, 8pm in the US only on Nick!

First PR Samurai Mega Ranger Mode Images!

Just recently, the character promo of Power Rangers Samurai's Blue Ranger, Kevin has just surfaced the web and along with it, the Mega Ranger Mode makes its first official appearance! Now, Bandai America's reputation of releasing toys not related to the show has now been broken!

More Shinkenger stock footage! Anyways, here are other screen captures of Red and Blue's respective Mega Ranger Mode, courtesy of Henshin Grid.

Theory why Saban decided to place a teaser about these suits? Maybe it is because to assure fans that these suits are indeed real even if it is confirmed a while back that it will appear in the show and it is not just Bandai America's gimmick to sell more toys not related to the show.

Here's my theory regarding these suits, these suits might replace the Hyper Shinken Modes in the original Super Sentai show. Also, notice the new sleek and white cockpit. This is not the first time we an original cockpit. The first was based on what I remembered, back in Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue with the Titanium Ranger's Zord in which in GoGo V, Titanium Ranger's mecha is originally "walking on its own." It is actually back in Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers Season 2's Thunder Zord cockpit.

Power Rangers Samurai Pilot Episode Revealed!

Just recently, Nickelodeon has just revealed the synopsis of the pilot episode of Power Rangers Samurai which will premiere in the United States this February 7th! And as they promised, it is indeed close to the original Super Sentai show, Shinkenger!

In the premiere episode, The Team Unites, after Mike (Green Samurai Ranger) can't anticipate an attack like Kevin (Blue Samurai Ranger) and Jayden (Red Samurai Ranger), he grows frustrated and takes a break from training to meet up with old friends.

But when a long-armed monster named Rofer attacks, Mike unsuccessfully attempts to fight him alone, and his friends are injured. Jayden and Mentor explain the hard truth that Samurai Rangers must stay away from family and friends in order to protect them from the dangers that are involved with being a Ranger. Inspired, Mike begins to take his role and training as a Samurai Ranger more seriously. With Jayden's help, Mike uses his training and creativity to anticipate Rofer's moves and defeats him.

As you can see, this episode is basically similar with Samurai Sentai Shinkenger's 3rd Act called, An Extermination Skill Contest, which is about Chiaki leaving the group and starts hanging out with his old friends when the Monster of the Week appears. Because of the clear similarities with the episodes, many fans wonder if the series will air in a different order.

Because of this, fans ask the show's official Twitter account regarding it and it is confirmed that this is indeed the first episode of the series. Which leads me to question, where does the episode seen in the earlier promo clip will take place?

Anyways, Power Rangers Samurai premieres on Nickelodeon this February 7th, at 8pm with new episodes every Sunday!

Power Rangers Samurai Red & Pink Ranger Promos

Just recently, new promos featuring Power Rangers Samurai's Red Ranger and Pink Ranger has surfaced the web! Aside from that, it seems that this show's theme song is quite clear, a rehash of the classic "Go! Go! Power Rangers!" theme song.

Red Ranger Promo

I love the effects of the promo, but there seems to be lacking with Red here. To be honest, he isn't acting, but reciting the lines he memorized from the script! Seriously, the acting back in the original MMPR is much better compared to this! So how can the bad guys can take this Red seriously if he sounds a little lame and doesn't sound like the fearless leader he was supposed to be?

Pink Ranger Promo

Can't comment on her acting yet.

PR Samurai's Mega Ranger Mode is REAL

We saw the toys, we hear the words coming from various people that these suits were designed by PLEX, the ones responsible for most Super Sentai and Kamen Rider suits and now, it is confirmed, these Mega Ranger suits will be part of Power Rangers Samurai!

Rangerboard's TheNewGuy posted this regarding the said suits:
From the Manufacturer
New theme in 2011 – Power Rangers Samurai. Each articulated figure has a New sleek MegaMode style, as seen in the TV series, making these Samurai Rangers stand out from the rest of the pack. The Rangers include a Mega Sword and special unique weapon making the rangers ready to battle. Crafted with great detail and quality, collectors and kids can play or display their favorite Power Ranger in their own environment and recreate scenes from the TV show.
This isn't the first time we saw an original power-up for Power Rangers, since Power Rangers in Space, the Battlizer is being used in the series which was later imported for the Dekaranger vs. Magiranger crossover film.

If you are interested in buying the toy, you can check ShukuenShinobi of Riders, Rangers and Rambles for his review of the 4" Mega Ranger figures along with this season's foot soldiers, the Moogers!

Special thanks to DarkBlaze of Riders, Rangers and Rambles for the info!

Power Rangers Samurai Morph and Fight!

Go! Go! Samurai! You can think of it as either a pun for the Japanese word for "five" or either a throwback to the original Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers theme song, but anyways, here is the morphing sequence of the Samurai Rangers and their fight against an army of Nanashi... I mean, Moogers first found in PRS' official page on Nick!

Let me say from the start: I love the new morphers. Sure, they eliminated the brush point from Shinkenger but they replaced it with digital pointers and since they are the new generation of Rangers, it worked!

As for the morphing sequence, I am quite bothered with the ninja mask since it clearly shows how cultural blind the producers of PRS. Seriously, if they will make this show as close as Shinkenger as possible, retain the traditional Japanese clothing.

Since the next part is Shinkenger footage, I will not comment on this but I will comment on the dubbing. For starters, it is a little... off. Asides from the return of the cheesy dialogue and the puns, which returned the fun but it made the show a little noisy and rather ruined the supposed disciplined Samurais into those cheesy teens from Angel Grove, but hey, they are still rookies so I can let that pass.

Overall, the new morphing sequence reminded me of the situation back in Jungle Fury in which the Solar Morphers ruined the epic morphing sequence, in this case, the ninja mask. It is still too early to decide if PR Samurai will be as good as Shinkenger (like most people say), but hey, at least they teased us on signs of things to come.

Power Rangers Samurai First Look Teaser

Here's the official teaser of the upcoming 18th Power Rangers season, Samurai! Aside that it is rumored to run for 43 episodes, it is said to air for two years. Is it me or they are trying to use the Goseiger footage for the 20th Anniversary?

Okay. Most parts of the teaser felt like it came straight out from Shinkenger! Hope they would not disappoint PR fans who have watched the original Japanese show!
