The September issue V Jump magazine is confirms that Bandai Namco Games will release the Digimon World: Re:Digitize "digital monster-raising role-playing game" for the PSP system next year. This will be the first Digimon game for the PSP. The price has yet to be determined. Suzuhito Yasuda, the illustrator of Durarara!!, is designing the characters.
The main character is a 14-year-old boy whose hobby is riding road bikes. Thanks to a certain incident, he is lost in the Digital World — the world where the data creatures known as Digimon live. (The Digital World happens to have a central tower similar to a building in the real world.) Agumon, a Digimon who breathes fire from his mouth, is the protagonist's first partner.
Bandai Namco Games has a online countdown timer that will end on Thursday.
Now that we are in the second half of Digimon Xros Wars, asides from the re-introduction of the Digivolutions and Bagra Army having the entire Digital World in his hands, here are some updates about the series. First up, Digimon Xros Wars is now registed by Toei Animation Company, Ltd. in the US as Digimon Fusion Battles. As of now, news about it when will it air in the US is still unknown. Episode 41: The Laugh of Olegmon! Farewell Xros Heart! (6/12) Balistamon becomes Gold Land's Death General, Olegmon of Gold Thief's minion, and transform into the Ultimate Destruction Weapon, DarkVolumon! DarkVolumon obeys Olegmon's order and attacks Taiki and OmegaShoutmon continuously. Right away they capture Taiki, and force him to become his Nakama again. Taiki refuses, Olegmon uses DarkVolumon's Speaker starts to create suffer for Nene who's hiding. Then Kiriha and Shoutmon save Taiki and Nene.
Then, Shoutmon decided to re-fix Balistamon and turns him back. But, Dark Volumon is stubborn and refuse to open his heart out. Then Shoutmon decided to DigiXros with DarkVolumon, so they can have hear to heart talk. Shoutmon begs Taiki, let them DigiXros into "X2". And Shoutmon tries his best to talk to DarkVolumon to wake up! So will Shoutmon's voice in his heart be able to turn Balistamon back again? Digimon Xros Wars will have a break on June 19th.
Episode 42: Whisper to Kiriha! The Invitation of the Devil from The Earth Gold General of Canyon. (6/26) Taiki and others arrive in the 6th Kingdom, Canyon Land. Gravimon who rules this Kingdom has combine all the giant castles together as strategy, and waiting for Taiki and others to appear. Kiriha suggest that his tacti will be go straight ahead, and divide his forces into 4, and then give out surprise attack.
But the forces that's responsible as Decoy, has high risk of becoming the sacrifices. With such extreme tacti, but Kiriha didn't sound like he cares, Taiki is puzzled. Then Kiriha confides to everyone his reason of fighting.
Episode 43: The Mighty Love! Deckerdramon's Final Scream!! (7/3) Towards Kiriha is getting tired from holding such strong darkness within his heart. Gravimon decided to let him fight his former friend (Taiki), in order to become stronger,and Kiriha starts to attack Taiki with full power.
Taiki hesitates, but he has no choice but fight back since Kiriha is non-stop attacking. Deckderamon can't stand looking at this anymore, he refuses to obey Kiriha's order of attacking, he wants to persuade him to stop the fight.
Lastly, music updates. Twill who performs Digimon Xros Wars' second opening theme, NEW WORLD will have a live event on June 11th to promote the single and Kouji Wada and Shoutmon will appear as special guest. Also, the next single for the series called, Evolution & DigiXros and to most fans surprise, Ayumi Miyazaki who sang the song, Brave Heart for Digimon Adventure returns! Along with Kouji Wada and Takayoshi Tanimoto, they will sing the song called, WE ARE Xros Heart ver. x7! The single will be released this June 22 so pre-order it while supplies last!
Former Morning Musume member, Mari Yaguchi designed a new Digimon called Panbachimon which will appear in 25th episode of Digimon Xros Wars on February 1! She also recorded the voice for the new character last January 19, the day before her birthday and is a big fan of the said anime and wanted to try becoming a voice actress.
The opportunity to work on Digimon began with Yaguchi's appearance on the Anime Seisaku Senyū Tour!! Digimon ga Dekiru Made program last October. Panbachimon's body has the top half of a panda and the bottom half of a bee. Its special moves include Bamboo Leaf Cutter and Poison Stinger, although Panbachimon does not use these moves in the said episode.
Since Nostalgia Trilogy was over almost a year ago, and since it is a trilogy, I decided to extend it with this new series! Not sure about how long will this series be, but if I find a show from back then worth talking about, I will talk about it. For its first serve, we will go to the Digital World with Digimon Adventure!
I first watched Digimon Adventure back in the early 2000, same case with Pokemon in which the TV station that aired it here in the Philippines likes to say that Pokemon will end and stop it for a couple of months and will say that Ash and Pikachu now has new adventures! Probably seeing the success of Pokemon, its rival station decided to air a show quite similar to Pokemon that is Digimon!
Since they want to directly rival Pokemon, as I mentioned in Nostalgia Trilogy, for me to watch both shows, what I did is to press the “Return” button once the other show is on commercial break! Fun, yes. In terms of understanding the plot, I still understand it. After reading an entry about Guinness World of Records, about Pokemon causing seizures in Japan, I decided to stop watching Pokemon and focus only on Digimon… thank God, my decision in focusing on Digimon is right! Pokemon will never end!
Digimon Adventure is about seven kids who just have their summer camp but on that day, their lives will change forever. They were transported into a different world in which they meet monsters known as Digimon, the seven kids meet and we they are: Taichi (The guy will goggles), Koshiro (The geek), Yamato (The bishie), Sora (Girl 1, loves birds), Mimi (Girl 2, loves malling and has a Digimon partner who is either a girl or a boy... that punches!), Takeru (The Kid) and Joe (That guy with glasses). Takeru and Yamato are siblings and Yamato and Taichi are having problems who will lead these kids.They are later added with Taichi's sister, Hikari (Kid 2).
For starters, I got into Digimon not because of the kids, but because of the monsters! Agumon and Gabumon became my instant favorite Digimons and the fact that they return back to normal once they evolve (or what my dub calls it, changes) into a stronger species, making them much more compact compared to Pokemon! Therefore, I officially was hooked with the show.
As the show progressed, one of the reasons why I got into the show is the fact that the monsters themselves grow up as characters along with their assigned partners. We saw how Taichi and Yamato fight because of their specific responsibility; saw how Takeru grew when we saw Patamon who just evolved into Angemon who just died protecting him, and was resurrected as a DigiEgg.
For a kid’s show, those themes are something deep. Something that is rare for an anime aimed for kids. Aside from that, the first series has one of the best character developments that I saw in anime. I mean, if I will compare Satoshi (Ash) with Taichi, Satoshi barely has character development while Taichi has enough character development that lasted for a 54-episode series.
One of the best parts in the original series is when they “let go” of their specific partner Digimon, its emotional but it was partly ruined here in the Philippines when those executive bigwigs decided to air Zero Two before ending Adventure! I was like, what the heck?! What happened to Taichi and co. as they fight the boss to save Earth! But hey, seeing them how they looked like in Zero Two was fun anyway. Plus, seeing that Daisuke wears goggles, I am fine with it and since then, my mind is set that all leaders of the group is required to wear goggles… till Masaru came and ruined the tradition.
If there is an anime that I want to see on TV again, that would be Digimon Adventure. Seeing that a certain TV station likes to rerun Digimon, hope that someday, they would return Digimon Adventure on TV!
To those who are wondering what’s with the title, there is one English dub of Digimon Adventure that didn’t use the term, digivolve but changes. If you are living in the Philippines, I am sure you are familiar with this dub that aired opposite with Pokemon! In this episode, we are continued with the arc in Sand Zone and it seems that Baalmon will die.
The episode was good and at the same time bad. Why good? Aside from how they introduce Beelzebumon (Which up until now, I still don’t get it on why they decide calling him that since Beelzebub is a name of a demon and Baal is a name of a false god as warriors of light), it is one of the rare instances that all Digimons are out from the X Loader!
Baalmon’s resurrection as Beelzebumon was awesome. Aside that after learning that there is more than to power; he wears the goddess’s mask, and protects Shoutmon X4K, then after that before dying, he SHOOTS Mugendramon’s cannons! Epic, yes. Awesome, absolutely!
When Baalmon transforms into Beelzebumon, it felt heavenly in a sense with the number of feathers that appeared. While it is happening, the first song for Digivolution from Digimon Adventure started playing in my head. Aside from that, his introduction as Beelzebumon is good. So good, that his pose while shooting someone looks good!
Taiki here is just the same Taiki we know, nothing much. But this episode has something interesting for Shoutmon. This is one rare instance that Shoutmon questioned his General. Why he should save Baalmon since he is their enemy? Yes, why save a guy who kills his comrades who are mind controlled instead of trying to find a way on removing the control out of their minds.
Aside from that, this is where Baalmon finally makes his final development as a character. Like I have stated earlier that he realized that there is more than to power, we saw that he doesn’t want Taiki to end up like him. Someone who lost his friends because he can’t do anything to save them.
All Digimons out from the Digivice fighting alongside with everyone was one of the best things in this episode! Too bad, Bastemon is still one useless princess even if she participated a little in the fight. Seriously, when we will see this sleepy princess fight properly, or better yet, DigiXros her with some Digimon to give her some use!
Why bad? Because Beelzebumon had minor exposure and Shoutmon X4K has more screen time! I mean, this episode highlights Beelzebumon’s first appearance with a strong pre-introduction to begin with! I know, Shoutmon X4K is the strongest around, but why not let him do the earlier blows and let Beelzebumon do the finisher? That would make a good impact to viewers!
Overall, the episode was fun to watch especially when all Taiki’s Digimons fight against the Bugra Army and when Baalmon is doing one of his finest moments in this series that leads us to him, resurrecting into Beelzebumon. Why resurrection? Digivolution is not an appropriate term considering that if it is Digivolution, Beelzebumon would revert into Baalmon
Since the World Cup has just ended with Spain winning, with a newly emptied timeslot, Studio 23 placed new anime programs in their block plus some tokusatsu shows!
Note that Monster Allergy and Metajets are not anime.
Here's the opening of the sixth Digimon show, Digimon Xros Wars and in some point it reminded me of a certain The Great Rider War hope this series would not end up like Decade in terms of inconsistencies!
Wa. Wait. DigiGattai?! Digimon is now like its big brother, Super Sentai except we don't have giant robots but random monsters forming one giant Digimon!

Digimon Tamers is coming back to free TV via Studio 23! As we all know, Digimon Tamers aired on Cartoon Network Philippines via Singaporean English dub and on ABS-CBN and Hero TV in Filipino. I never got an interest in watching this series back then since this show has no connection with the previous chosen children but I think I would give this show a shot.
Digimon Tamers airs this Saturday, May 15 at 9am only on Studio 23.
*Starts playing Standing At Edge of The Earth* Back then, this song is used for a promo on GMA’s Anime Resurrection block… and back then, they are THE Anime Authority here in the Philippines. To be exact, this is the first AMV most young Pinoys back then watched. To those whom did not have the chance to see it, it is best describe as all the best bits of every anime in GMA combined into a 1-minute plug. The shows, scene in the commercial, if my memory serves me correctly are Ghost Fighter (Yu Yu Hakusho), DragonBall Z and Flame of Recca. The best part is, it is on the primetime lineup! Sweet. Those where the days, but since my parents are watching the news in the opposite channel, I did not have the chance to watch these shows… on primetime! Except if my parents are not looking and doing something or the other station’s reception became fuzzy, that is the only time I watched those shows. I almost forgot, back then, GMA had a back-to-back Red Hero lineup before it evolved into Anime Resurrection, namely, after Lupin the 3rd (In which Lupin, as usual, wears his red coat) is DragonBall Z (in which Goku wears a darker toned orange gi).
The only time I got the chance to watched anime on primetime is during Fridays, the titles aired during Fridays, on GMA are Pokemon followed by Fushigi Yuugi and on ABS-CBN, Digimon Adventure later on replaced by Digimon 02. Since I have the remote on Fridays, I watched both shows, namely, Pokemon and Digimon simultaneously. After I discovered about the seizure event that happened in Japan just because they watched Pokemon, I got scared and just watched Digimon.
In case you are wondering if back then there anime programs are aired in the afternoons, yes, there are programs aired during the afternoons! In GMA, they aired Gundam Franchise (To be exact, Wing, G and X) while in ABS-CBN, Evangelion and B’T X, that is why it created a certain mark back then that GMA has the right to air Gundam… till SEED and SEED Destiny aired on ABS-CBN years ago! Aside from that, I really love watching Mojako back then on GMA. That orange fur ball is entertaining! More than that, I loved watching the earlier episodes of Doraemon. Doraemon’s voice back then sounded like a reliable cat… not Son Goku of DragonBall stuck in a robot cat’s body.
As the years past by, the primetime anime lineup has been dissolved and moved in the afternoons. That is why, I had the chance to watch those programs aired in the afternoons. That is when I knew their stories and got hooked with them. The only show in the old primetime lineup that never aired in the afternoon slot was Trigun. The only episode I watched is when Vash and that guy in blue shoot themselves together and the blood that spurted out from their bodies was ketchup!
Back then, I was addicted to Voltes V (Voltes FIVVVE! VUH!), Daimos (ERRIKA!), DragonBall Z (KA… ME… HA… ME… WAVEEEEE! VUH!), Hunter X Hunter, Doraemon (Ang Mahiwagang, *Insert Name of Gadget Here*), Ghost Fighter (RAY GUN!), Flame of Recca (FLAME POWER!!!), and more titles. Back then, I memorized all Recca’s flame dragons (and still memorized them! Proof? Saiha, Nadare, Homura, Setsuna, Madoka, Rui, Kokou, and Obeshi) and tried doing the kanji on the air. In addition, Ohayou was my LSS back then (and still now!). Those shows mentioned above are the popular shows back then.
Since back then GMA is the Anime Authority, they aired many unknown titles like Flint (I am not sure if this is the official title), Gadget Boy Kanipan, Ah! My Goddess!, Witch Hunter Robin and even HunterXHunterOVAGreedIsland, just to name a few. On the other stations, to be exact, IBC, they aired Crayon Shin-chan and Cyborg Kuro-chan in which celebrities dub the lead characters, namely Shin-chan and Kuro-chan and their theme songs are song by a rap group named Salbakuta! From the two, my favorite was Crayon Shin-chan. Elepante Boy, FTW! *Does his dance*
Since I am too focused on GMA (GMA hogged most of the known titles Filipinos know by the way), I will now tell you the other shows aired on ABC, the future Anime Authority better known as TV5.
ABC aired one of the most popular Magical Girl genre anime, the Sailor Moon franchise. I still remember Usagi, transforming as Sailor Moon and that little girl as Sailor Chibi Moon. Mamoru Chiba always acting like the dashing masked knight who will stole the scene at the end of some episodes which caused Usagi to blush. Those where the classics. Most of the shows aired on ABC back then are targeted for girls, to be exact, the other well know anime aired on ABC was Fancy Lala. The only shows that targeted back then for young boys that aired on ABC were Slam Dunk, dubbed in English and Yaiba.
Wondering what shows that aired on ABS-CBN every morning? Most of the shows they aired are anime shows that aired on Japan back in the 80’s or late 70’s like Cedie, anime adaptations of Secret Garden, A Little Princess and Daddy Long Legs. Cedie, is one of my favorites back then, I love how he plays his flute and the fact that he is the grandson of a duke. As for GMA, don’t ask the shows aired on GMA during the morning timeslot, they only aired Sesame Street, Batibot and Teletubbies.
